It all started years ago when I started using Macs. I think it’s been 15 years now and I have used a lot of MacBooks. I even went to the Pro line and used Air. In fact, I used a small 11 inch MacBook Air. It was with an Intel i5 processor back in those days. But the biggest revolution came with this one. When Apple unveiled the M1 chip, which was Apple’s own chip. The M1 MacBook Air was launched along with the MacBook Pro. Guys, it was a crazy update. All the Macs we’ve seen in the past, this was a game changer. It’s been a while since I’ve used it but still it’s a really powerful & awesome machine to work on. So let’s unbox the MacBook Air model with M3 chip & see what flavor has changed and how much power has come in this MacBook.

MacBook Air M3 Unboxing

It gives a different feel to be honest. Below, it’s written Designed by Apple in California. Yes, the color of the MacBook and Apple stickers are the same. There is some reading material then we have a 35W dual USB-C charger to charge the MacBook & iPhone or Apple Watch. There’s a braided cable with a USB-C connector on one side & MagSafe 3 connector on the other. It’s color coded so you’ll get the cable of the color of your Mac. And the all new MacBook Air M3 chip in a 15 inches laptop. Finally, I have this machine & to be honest, it’s unbelievable to experience how much power Apple can pack in this form factor.

I must tell you, the power is really next level. Because of the updates with each iteration, there are so many improvements coming in. Their experience is completely fresh. If you remember, the 15 inch MacBook Air came with the M2 chip. This is the 2nd generation now, from M2 to M3 with the 15 inch MacBook Air.

MacBook Air M3 Design

If we talk about the basic layout, the design is quite similar, I’d say exactly the same as we’ve got so far. It has a MagSafe 3 connector. Then it has 2 USB 4 ports which support Thunderbolt 3 speeds. There’s a clean design all around. There’s a groove to open it up & there’s a Mac lid. So with just the tip of my finger, I can open it very easily & the laptop won’t move. This is a clear sign of a very nicely made hinge. It’s very stable & very easy.

If we talk about this side, there’s a clean design & a combi jack to attach your headphones, mics etc. At the back, it’s a clean look with 4 raised rubber feet for a nice grip on the table so it doesn’t move too much. It has a 6 speaker system with force canceling subwoofers. So you’ll get a good audio experience with the 15 inch model. If we talk about the keyboard, it’s a full sized keyboard. The touch bar is missing from the Apple lineup so you get a nicely spaced out keyboard. My experience of typing on Macs, the best part is that no matter how much you change the MacBook, your typing experience is still good & once you get used to the keys, you can switch to Macs without any tension. You also have a big trackpad here & you can use gestures on it.

MacBook Air M3 Display

Then there’s a 15.6” Liquid Retina Display with a 60Hz refresh rate. You get a notch like design similar to the iPhone 14 series. There’s a Full HD webcam here. The screen definitely brings a peak brightness of 500 nits & it gives you the experience of watching videos, watching your favorite show, playing games etc. The screen is really bright & you’ll get a good quality screen for sure. The bezels are a bit more than the MacBook Pro as it has thinner bezels.

MacBook Air M3 Performance

It has an Apple M3 chip with 8 core CPU, 10 core GPU, 16 core Neural Engine. The memory starts at 8GB but you can go all the way from 16GB to even 24GB. There are options & you can configure it the way you want. Storage starts at 256GB but you can configure it to 512GB, 1TB or 2TB.

MacBook Air M3 Battery

It has a 66.5Wh battery capacity. The battery is like the MacBook Air’s backbone in this field. I don’t think any other laptop can come close to it. Because once you charge it, you can use it for a day from morning to evening. Those who work lightly, their battery lasts for 3-4 days. Even if they work for 2-3 hours daily, the battery lasts for a long time. if it gets discharged, you can quickly top it up.

Who can use the MacBook Air M3?

It’s a powerful laptop but it’s mostly for people who work lightly. It’s a high end laptop too. Otherwise, they normally browse, work on their documents or if they’re working on projects, making slides, or doing research, then this laptop fits them well. We played games on it, we did editing work on it. In fact, you can easily edit 4K videos on it. You get a very good performance and you can use it for a long time. If I want to do multitasking, I mean, if I open more apps my Mac is rock stable. So this is the power you get in an Apple Mac. The interesting thing is, with the M3 chip, Apple has taken these things to a whole new level. For AI, for example, because now what we have is a 16-core neural engine, so these laptops are super capable of achieving whatever you can say.

MacBook Air M3 Price

In terms of price, Apple gave us a nice surprise. And the surprise is, that the MacBook Air with M2 chip, the 13-inch model, was priced at Rs 1,19,900 till now. But now, after this new launch, its price has gone down and it starts at Rs 99,900. And if you buy it for Apple Education, then it’s Rs 89,900.

The new models, the M3 chip models, the 13-inch MacBook Air, its price starts at Rs 1,14,900. And this 15-inch MacBook Air model with M3 chip, it starts at Rs 1,34,900.

Conclusion

In my honest opinion, if you want a big screen, if you want this kind of form factor, go with this size. So you can pick whichever model you prefer according to your requirements. But I’d say, for students or people who want to do professional work, and don’t want their laptop to get stuck just go for it. Guys, this is the new MacBook, really built like a tank and it’s fun to use.
